Step by Step

Female:     One by one

                        The petals fall

                        To settle upon the ground

Male:       One by one

                    The tear drops form

                    To fall without a sound

Female:     One by one

                        The pieces scatter

                        all around

                        Our blossoming love is gone.

Male:       Two by two

                    The doors-they slam

                    Keeping us apart

Female:     Two by two

                        The troubles grow

                        Because they’re never talked about

Male:       Two by two

                    The miles extend

                     Farther with every day

                    Our pride has won

                     But I don’t want

                     things to this way.

Both:       We both agreed‑these things take their time

(Chorus)    And that each one must be willing sometimes to

                         compromise

We both said we knew that we might have to fight

So how come now we’re walking out of each others’ lives?

Female:     One by one

                        If we sit down

I’m sure we can talk things out

Male:       Two by two

                     Working together

                     A solution will be found

Female:     If we just open

                        Our minds and our hearts

                        Then start to listen

So that the healing can start.

Both:            We both agreed‑these things they take their time

(Chorus)    And that each one must be willing sometimes to

                          compromise

We both said we knew that we might have to fight

Put on the gloves, and lets fight for our future

                         lives.
